Producing a CD Rom is much like a web site in that it involves a series of steps to get to the end result.
Initial Consultation Simply Call, Email or fill out our Contact Form. We'll get back to you as
soon as possible to discuss the nature and intention of your project, the budget, quantity of CD's required and your deadline requirement. We will explain the process of CD development, video production and what makes our CD's above the rest and explain in depth our CD Tracking System "TracAttack".
Planning
In this process your project specifics are defined. This includes issues like the target audience, your
goals & objectives, levels of interactivity and how soon the content will go out of date. We can help you
plan but some research on your part will be needed because you know your business best. By asking yourself these few questions most of the early information can be answered:
Who is your target audience for this CD presentation?
What are their common characteristics?
What is the purpose of the CD?
Is this for a specific event and if so, what type of event?
How often will the content and text need to be updated?
How much interactivity do you want on the CD or do you want the viewers to watch a video
presentation? The more interactive the longer the CD will have your viewers attention. We highly recommend you have more than just a video to enhance your vision.
Seeking opinions from "stakeholders" (those people or groups with something to gain from the CD
such as staff and regular customers) can also provide a wealth of information. If your business currently uses style guides then we'll need a copy of them as well to ensure that
we use the right fonts, colours and logo placement.
Do you want a CD presentation to flow with your current website? Or would you like a CD to
create a new image and design a new website to market your message. We can do both for you.
If you want a video produced you need to fill out our Pre-Production Planning Form. When we
meet with you we will get all your info and write a script to
Plan out your presentation from the message and purpose of the CD to how you want it to look
and the color scheme. If you have no idea what you want we can help guide you. Look over the
Internet and a few websites that you like their design and we can adapt it to your presentation,
change the colors, add or take away to come up with your unique design. Some people will let us loose to design the entire project for them.
Creating a FlowChart If you have a design planned out we will review that and make any suggestions from a marketing and
media standpoint. Next we take this information and produce a design plan and flowchart along with
some initial storyboards if necessary. A preliminary design will then be prepared based on your ideas
and either emailed to you or put up on our test site for you to view. At this time we will ask you to review
and sign off these initial plans to ensure your happy with the projected CD. Signing off involves sending us an email with your approval.
Organizing Content Your content such as video, text and images will need to be delivered to us in one the formats listed
below. If needed we will organize any copy to be written, sound recordings, video footage or photography.
PC formatted disks with file extensions in place. Please no Macintosh. Your new CD will be
formatted for both PC and Mac.
Text: Please deliver by email, on disk, CD, or as typed information on plain white paper.
Standard word processing formats are required but if in doubt please contact us. Charges will apply for manual typing of text depending on amount of text.
Text And Numeric Data: Data such as product listings, retail price lists and membership listings
should be sent via email or on disk / CD in a standard spreadsheet or database format. Charges apply for manual typing of text.
Links: URL's and link descriptions for any external web sites to be shown as links from your web
site should be provided within the context of your text.
Multimedia: Multimedia components not produced by Mfusion may require additional
pre-processing regardless of delivery format. If we are not involved in the production of a multimedia element content must be supplied in a "ready to use" format such as MPEG,
Quicktime, Real Networks, MP3, AVI, SWF or DCR. An additional hourly charge will be applied if digital conversion or enhancement is required.
Photos: If you would like us to do the scanning we would prefer you supply the images in the
following formats to ensure that the final image quality is as good as possible.. Flat bed Scanning: first generation photographic prints
Drum Scanning: Transparencies, first generation 35mm slides, or first generation photographic prints.
If you are supplying your own digital images then the following formats are recommended.
TIF (RGB) or non-compressed Windows JPG (RGB)
File Size: At least 750 pixels in largest dimension
Resolution: 150 dpi or higher
Please note "Microsoft Word" is not an image format. If in doubt please contact us to discuss
your intended file format.
Logos: The supply of logos in digital (EPS, PDF or TIF) format is preferred, however if digital
copies are not available, company and product logos can be provided as bromides. If bromides are
not available, a clear reproduction that is larger than 5 cm and on plain non-textured white paper
will provide the best results. An additional hourly charge will be applied if extensive image editing, quality enhancement or re-creation is required.
Line Art: The supply of Line art images such as maps, floor plans, schematics, and logos in
digital (EPS, PDF or TIF) format is preferred but can be scanned (if necessary) and reproduced on
the web site as supplied. An additional hourly charge will be applied if extensive image editing, quality enhancement or re-creation is required.
Construction Full scale work begins once we have most or all of the materials required for the completed CD. All work
that we do is naturally chargeable, this includes the preparation of any additional design concepts or
major revisions in cases where an initial design has already commenced, or where the requirement
exists for more than one design concept option to be presented. Ongoing information about the state of
the project will always be available upon request. We often break our construction phase into
sub-sections that we require you to sign-off. This ensures you're happy with the progress of the CD and helps us define control points within our process.
Testing Throughout the life of the project we build in regular testing to ensure quality control in the final product.
Our products are not only tested for technical errors but also for good user experience. A poor user
experience (where they feel lost or lacking control of a program) will not only impact badly on clients using your CD but also on their impression of you as a company.
Release Depending on the requirements of your CD we may be installing it into a custom system for use in a
retail outlet, or coordinating to include it as a cover disk for a magazine. One thing's for certain though, at the end of the day it's time to crack the champers and celebrate.
