Project Planning
Before the project starts Clients are encouraged to do some planning before contacting a
multimedia developer, especially if they intend to sell online. Having a website or distributing a CD will not make customers magically appear
and buy. Multimedia is a way to distribute information—the information must still be correct and current as well as relevant to the end user.
At the initial meeting or teleconference G-Wiz Media meets with the client, either face to face, by teleconference
or electronically, to research their needs and wants. At this point we ask a series of questions:
What kind of project is this—a small informational website; an e-business site (more information,
presented dynamically), an e-commerce site; a multimedia CD; an online animation/splash page, game?
Who is your target market? What kind of websites or CDs might they already be familiar and
comfortable with?
What kind of content do you plan to present? What kind of services do you plan to offer?
What special requirements are there—security, hosting/domain registration, audio/video, credit
card processing, search engine submission?
What material is already available, and what needs to be developed? How much will there be?
How is the material to be organized? How is it to be presented?
Do you intend to maintain and update the content yourself? The site can be designed and
developed with that in mind, but the decision must be made early in the process.
Sometimes the collection of this information takes longer than the initial meeting, especially for large or
complex projects. Questions and answers are exchanged until enough information is available upon which to base the proposal.
At the proposal stage G-Wiz Media
examines the information received so far and presents to the client for review:
A detailed description of the project scope and deliverables
A simplified flowchart of the site/CD structure (how will the material be presented, not necessarily
how it will be organized at the back end)
A budget and schedule
